The United Nations was created 64 years ago by men and women from every corner of the world. These architects of international cooperation acted out of an idealism rooted in the hard-earned lessons of war. They had the wisdom to understand that nations could do far more to advance their interests by acting together than by letting themselves be split apart. The original 51 member nations were united around a commitment to peace, humanity, and justice.

Today, with 192 member states, the United Nations is the principle forum for all nations, large and small, to work in concert to meet the global challenges no nation can confront alone. The U.N. is vital to America’s efforts to create a better, safer world. Through peacekeeping missions that have saved so many lives and averted so many wars; lifesaving humanitarian work; critical development activities; and its unique legitimacy, the U.N. can function as a forum that brings all nations together.

The U.N. sometimes struggles to live up to its founding ideals, as it can only be effective if its member states choose to meet their own responsibilities. At its best, this indispensible, if imperfect, institution helps to resolve conflicts and rebuild shattered societies; to lay the foundations of democracy, human rights, and development; and to establish conditions in which people can live in dignity and mutual respect. The member states of the U.N. have an obligation to demonstrate the will and leadership to match the aspirations of all. Now is the time for all of us to assume our share of responsibility to meet global challenges.

Committed in our resolve to create a world our people deserve, we look to the future with confidence. As expressed in the founding values of the United Nations, we share a common security and are unified by our common humanity. This truth calls us to work cooperatively with nations from around the globe in the pursuit of peace, economic prosperity, and human opportunity.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim October 24, 2009, as United Nations Day. I urge the Governors of the 50 States, and the officials of all other areas under the flag of the United States to observe United Nations Day with appropriate ceremonies and activities. So What is a Presidential Proclamation?

A presidential proclamation is “an instrument that states a condition, declares a law and requires obedience, recognizes an event or triggers the implementation of a law (by recognizing that the circumstances in law have been realized)” (Cooper 2002, 116). In short, presidents “define” situations or conditions on situations that become legal or economic truth. These orders carry the same force of law as executive orders – the difference between the two is that executive orders are aimed at those inside government while proclamations are aimed at those outside government. The administrative weight of these proclamations is upheld because they are often specifically authorized by congressional statute, making them “delegated unilateral powers.” Presidential proclamations are often dismissed as a practical presidential tool for policy making because of the perception of proclamations as largely ceremonial or symbolic in nature. Another Story:

In other news…Barack Hussein Obama also on Friday October 23rd 2009 issued another Declaration, National Emergency for Swine Flu. Some are already speculating that the White House might be seeking to employ Martial Law.

Here is what the Department of Health and Human Resources says:

“For purposes of waiver, an emergency area and period is where and when there is: a) an emergency or disaster declared by the President pursuant to the National Emergencies Act or the Stafford Act, and b) a public health emergency declared by the Secretary.

• The President may declare a major disaster under the Stafford Act when a natural catastrophe (hurricane, tornado, fire, etc.), or, regardless of cause, a fire, flood, or explosion, causes damage of sufficient severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond State and local capabilities and major disaster assistance is warranted.
• The President may declare an emergency under the Stafford Act when Federal assistance is needed to supplement State and local efforts and capabilities to save lives, protect property, and public health and safety, or lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe and the situation is of such severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond State and local capabilities.
• The President may declare a national emergency under the National Emergencies Act by transmitting a proclamation to Congress that is published in the Federal Register.  Upon such declaration, authorities or powers made available by statute for use in an emergency are exercised only as specified by the President in his declaration or an Executive Order.  The emergency may be terminated by Presidential proclamation or a joint resolution by Congress.  In regard to international emergency economic powers, the President may declare an emergency to deal with any unusual and extraordinary threat which has its source in whole or substantial part outside the U.S. to the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the U.S.”   (Source: HHS.GOV click here for full Declaration)

Can Martial Law take place simply over a flu pandemic. Well, the law has already gone into effect in one state in the United States that I know of. Could this be foundational? The State of Massachusetts already has layed the ground work for what could happen nationally, especially if you take into consideration the Presidential Declaration. On this blog I try to draw the reader, ideally, back to the truth and purity of the Word of God. This site is a news site, with a priority to focus on how the things that are going on in our world relate to what God already told us would happen in these last days. (Matt. 24) The Word of God is the Ultimate Authority and should take precidence over anything and everything said/reported on this site. Without the Truth and the Hope that our Lord Jesus Christ has given us all of this information can be overwhelming. It does not need to over burden you. If it does take heed that no one deceive you! I think one of the greatest form of attack the enemy has chosen lately with me is ‘doubt.’ If Satan can put a sliver of doubt that what is happening is not really what Christ Jesus said would preciptate His coming, if other areas of my life can be attacked with doubt then I would be a useless and ineffective Christian. Sadly, this tactic has worked in the past with me and is thus an area of weakness. However! God is Victorious! The Lord God of Heaven has already conqured Death. My Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ is not going to be pretty or perfect, it will be wroght with testing and trials and although the outside world will not understand how I could Love such a Holy and Righteous Father, His Son, and His Holy Spirit, I can still stand–only by the grace of God, the precious Gift of Redemption given to me by the Only Begotten Son of God! So if you are reading all the headlines, the demise of our Soverign Nation formerly called the United States of America, and growing weary, don’t! Don’t grow weary! We are sojourners in a forign land. We are to be salt and light in a time of darkness and ineffectivenss.

WHO “Opportunity” in Crisis

I heard this before, “Never let a good “Opportunity”in Crisis pass you by…-Rham Emanuel, Hillary Clinton, Barack Hussein Obama, Sal Alinsky….

Alinsky provides a collection of rules to guide the process. But he emphasizes these rules must be translated into real-life tactics that are fluid and responsive to the situation at hand.

Rule 1: Power is not only what you have, but what an opponent thinks you have. If your organization is small, hide your numbers in the dark and raise a din that will make everyone think you have many more people than you do.

Rule 2: Never go outside the experience of your people.
The result is confusion, fear, and retreat.

Rule 3: Whenever possible, go outside the experience of an opponent. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat.

Rule 4: Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. “You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”

Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

Rule 6: A good tactic is one your people enjoy. “If your people aren’t having a ball doing it, there is something very wrong with the tactic.”

Rule 7: A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues.

Rule 8: Keep the pressure on. Use different tactics and actions and use all events of the period for your purpose. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this that will cause the opposition to react to your advantage.”

Rule 9: The threat is more terrifying than the thing itself. When Alinsky leaked word that large numbers of poor people were going to tie up the washrooms of O’Hare Airport, Chicago city authorities quickly agreed to act on a longstanding commitment to a ghetto organization. They imagined the mayhem as thousands of passengers poured off airplanes to discover every washroom occupied. Then they imagined the international embarrassment and the damage to the city’s reputation.

Rule 10: The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. Avoid being trapped by an opponent or an interviewer who says, “Okay, what would you do?”

Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.
According to Alinsky, the main job of the organizer is to bait an opponent into reacting. “The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength.” Source

Social Distancing a method to Contain whom?

Social Distancing to reduce the risk of Pandemic Influenza If pandemic influenza occurs:

• Vaccine will not be available for 6 months.
• Antivirals will be used to treat the ill.
• Society, including governmental functions, may be disrupted. The main defense will be Social Distancing.
• Social distancing plans are based on the scientific knowledge of how the influenza virus spreads.

Base Case–Targeted Social Distancing

High infectiousness and a high number of contacts, many like-to-like, create a zone of high infectious contact centered on children and teenagers within the community’s social network. Targeting this zone can protect the community at large.

First, we examined closing schools. Although contacts in classes are removed, those in all other groups may increase because children and teenagers spend more time at home, in neighborhoods, with friends, and in public spaces. We assume that school closure at a minimum doubles household contacts. Closing schools with 90% compliance the day after 10 symptomatic cases reduces the attack rate to 22% (Table 2). However, if we assume that school closure doubles all link contact frequencies for children or teenagers within their nonschool groups, attack rates are increased by 18% (Table 2).

Alternatively, we send all children and teenagers home after school closure to remain for the duration of the pandemic. Now contact frequencies are reduced by 90% for all groups that contain only children or teenagers (classes and their random networks) and doubled, as before, for children or teenagers in households. In the extended family or neighborhood and the random overall networks, child or teenager contact frequencies are also reduced by 90%. Thus, although children and teenagers are restricted to the home, adults and older adults go about their day-to-day routines, except that they avoid children or teenagers who are not household members. Imposing this strategy the day after 10 symptomatic cases reduces attack rates by 93% (Table 2). Waiting until 80 symptomatic cases reduces attack rates by 73% (Figure 7A).

To evaluate the trade off between effectiveness and public compliance, we reduced the percentage of non school and non household contacts that have their frequencies reduced with the child and teenager stay-at-home policy (Figure 7B). At 50% compliance, attack rates can be reduced by 68% (Table 2). Reduction in compliance also increases the time scales for the epidemic. Epidemics lengthen above the base case and reach a factor of ≈1.8 at 40% compliance (Figure 7B).

Other social distancing strategies can be considered. Because children outnumber teenagers and children are more infective and susceptible, what happens if only children are distanced, while teenagers attend school and follow their usual routines? At 90% compliance, this strategy reduces the attack rates by 47% (Table 2). What if all sick persons remain at home when symptomatic? At 90% compliance this strategy reduces attack rates by 20% (<25% of infectious persons are influenced as pS × pH = 0.25 for adults only) (Table 2).

(A.)Ruth Karron: Social distancing is an effort to slow the spread of an infectious disease by decreasing opportunities for people to congregate–for example, closing schools, or places of work or worship. In extreme instances, individuals might be asked to ‘shelter in place’–to stay at home for a period of time. Social distancing should be implemented at the advice of local government and public health professionals, who will take into account the rate of spread and severity of disease. (emphasis mine)

As the first US death resulting from Swine flu is being reported, the President has issued this statement:

U.S. President Barack Obama suggested that schools with confirmed cases of swine flu should consider closing, as the first death in the country was confirmed on Wednesday.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta said on Wednesday that swine flu caused the death of a 23-month-old child in Houston. It is believed to be the first death outside Mexico. Source: CBC.CA News another article @ Brietbart

I love the Lord Jesus Christ who is my Savior, Redeemer, and King of Kings! It is in Him whom I place my trust, my life. I recognize that this is not easy to accept, the idea of pandemics in our Current Advanced Society. Oh how we have built our towers of pride, control, and vanity! It’s just when we think we have it all figured out and we ‘don’t need God’ that we are reminded that our  very breath is in His hands. Yes, even though you may not believe in Him, He still IS and Was, and Will forever Be, and your life whether in unbelief or belief is in His hands. Your fate is not based on a flu, an economic Tsunami, or even persecution, your fate like everyone else is to one day come face to face with your maker. John 14:6 states that there is only One way to God the Father and that is through His son Jesus Christ. If you do not know Him–you must. Ask for God to reveal your need for Him, recognize that in and of your own power you will surely die and be seperated from God without Forgiveness of Sin which is through Jesus-Yeshua Hamashiach! Know Him. Be Blessed today and for all Eternity!

Questions and Observations on Swine Flu pandemic

Some observations and tough Questions not being asked.

Observations:

Beginning with Bush, pass of bail out and money to auto industry

Stock Market plummets we loose 1/2 of wealth

More porkulous, bail outs, more money to auto industry, newspapers, etc

G-20 meeting in London

IMF will ‘help’ all countries esp. emerging markets

BHO tours Europe and Middle East (all of Israel’s enemies)

Tea Parties begin forming

DHS releases Right Wing Extremist Doc.

Tea parties are 1 mill. strong

Obama’s never heard of a Tea Party…

First reports of Swine flu break

Swine Flu is: pig, Bird Flu, and human influenza mix. Totally laboratory manufactured…

Deaths reported in Mexico begin to climb, reports of other cases across the globe begin.

CDC and WHO claim it’s “Too late to Contain.”

World panic and alert level raised due to climbing death toll in Mexico and more cases confirmed in US and outside of US.

Monday…BHO claims not to be too alarmed at the Swine flu pandemic.

Countries outside of the US continue to report alarming cases and warnings.

Conspiracy theories surface as to timing and spread of illness.

Questions:

Why if this is such a pandemic are US cases non-lethal?

Why if this is such a non-issue is the world around the US in an uproar?

Why if this is a natural occurring illness are we not seeing scores of dead pigs and birds?

Why did the CDC and WHO claim that it was beyond their control?

Is it because we have not seen the end of this bio attack? Could it be that there were multiple distribution sites, ie, no need to contain it if it’s been distributed all over?

Where are the images from Mexico of sick people in the hospital? Where are the pics of those form other countries? No witnesses on tv?

Is this a run to see if and how fast information gets distributed on-line via Social Media?

The United States declared a ‘State of Emergency’ what does this allow our federal government to do, and how far away are they from declaring Martial Law? What’s the difference?

There are simply too many questions and not enough answers at this point.

My suggestion is to be Alert, be Prepared, and Keep your eyes on Jesus, look to His word to guide you in all things. I know that God is not the author of confusion, so if there are so many confusing questions it should at least give us pause and concern as to why there are so many questions and so few answers. In the age of Information we have still very little…and that begs the question, Why?

The most complete accumulation of info. Reporting New Zealeand has 10 Confirmed cases of flu…reports have been confirmed in various parts of the world. First starting in Mexico, Texas, California, Kansas, New York, Massachusetts, and Minnesota.

Canada has closed down flights to Mexico.

The One Question I had from the onset of this story breaking was, “Is this a terrorist bio attack?” the reason is because this strain is a mixture of Swine, Bird Flu, and Human.

I have been monitoring Twitter, and all the news organizations I follow there. I re-tweet what is important and send out my own links to articles/audio/video that I find. If you can check in on my Updates on Twitter as they are more up to the minute. On twitter all I have to do is send links, and not type up a bunch of stuff, plus, NEWS is Breaking so FAST on this story it’d be impossible to blog each update.
