Indefinite Detention Bill

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012 is a controversial bill that has been passed by both houses of Congress separately, and a final version approved by the Senate on 15 December 2011. Though the White House and Senate sponsors maintain that the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists (AUMF) already grants presidential authority for indefinite detention, the Act legislatively codifies the President’s authority to indefinitely detain terrorism suspects, including American citizens, without trial as defined in Title X, Subtitle D, SEC 1031(a-e) of the bill Because those who may be held indefinitely include U.S. citizens arrested on American soil, and because that detention may be by the military, the Act has received critical attention by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and media sources. The Senate approved the $662 billion defence bill in an 86-13 vote on Thursday, December 15th after passing the House of Representatives on December 14th in a 283-146 vote.

Co-Author of the bill, Arizona Senator John McCain,  told Rand Paul during a hearing on the bill that American citizens could be declared an enemy combatant, sent to Guantanamo Bay and detained indefinitely, “no matter who they are.”

“I strongly believe the detainee provisions in the bill are constitutional and in no way infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Americans.  Unfortunately, rarely in my time have I seen legislation so consistently misunderstood and misrepresented as these detainee provisions.  The hyperbole used by both the Left and the Right regarding this language is false and misleading.  Let me be clear, the language in this bill will not affect any Americans engaging in the pursuits of their Constitutional rights.  The language does recognize that those people who seek to wage war against the United States will be stopped and we will use all ethical, moral, and legal methods to do so.

“I am very pleased that the Administration has finally recognized that the language we have adopted merits the President’s signature and will soon be signed into law.  While we have made some technical changes to the detainee provisions, they remain substantially the same as passed by the Senate Armed Services Committee.” Source: John McCain’s website

Superbowl 45 Trumps Egypt

All it took was one football game; albeit the Superbowl, and just like that coverage of Egypt is over. AlJazeera English was also adding to the Main Stream Media Blackout by covering the Egyptian elite unaffected by the political turmoil and death in the streets of Cairo. Rather than streaming live video of Anti-Mubarak protesters getting bandaged from violent and bloody clashes with Pro-Mubarak protesters AlJazeera English displayed video feeds of upper class Egyptians smoking and playing polo. The shift in focus was no less aimed to American viewership. Aljazeera showed that life was going on for others in Egypt. Displaying that the bloodshed and turmoil had no effect on the wealthy of Egypt reinforced their confidence in Mubarak and put forth a sentiment to American watchers that the Egyptian turmoil was coming to a close. Political talks failed over the weekend and the infamous Google Executive who spurred on the protests on January 25th was released from jail. Now the thunder has stopped rolling and Drudge Report has given the official kiss of death to Egypt Coverage:

Anderson Cooper doesn’t seem to be holding a grudge from being attacked in Cairo. He is covering Egypt today by doing an interview with ElBaradei.

To the Believer:

I guess Isaiah 19, 17, 18, Ps. 83, Ezekiel 38-39 will just have to wait. At least now there is more time to share the Gospel with boldness to the Lost in places like Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Algeria, Tunisia, and the US!

I like this following article it articulates the complexity of the events in Egypt, as well as lays out the proper intel that MSM (main stream media) will never let you know:

The Dilemma: Egypt or Israel

Barack Hussein Obama graced the pyramids of Egypt soon after his election in an infamous speech directed toward the whole Muslim countryside. In his speech he vowed to be different and to support democracy there. Click Here for Cairo Speech post

Many in Israel and in the United States knew his statement for the populace translated into a statement against true democracy which in its errant form in both respective countries has led to years of innovation and capital wealth. Supporters of Israel knew Obama’s speech was a line in the sand and that his seat of power as high potus of such a military might had just turned against the tide of previous support for Israel. Now that most of the enemies of Israel are in an uproar, a “tumult” if you will, there is a dilemma for the US government; support the Egyptian populace and encourage a new government which is highly anti-Israel, or do not support the Egyptian people and allow the flood gates of an Islamic Caliphate to swell and overtake, not just Israel – “America’s Greatest Ally,” but also our very own nation.

What is going on in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza is of our gravest concern. If you don’t believe me hear what the people of Egypt have to say. They remember full well who has been supporting Mubarak–

The Cairo Speech… Blasphemy!

hero_pyramids Obama in Egypt

Obama called for an opening of attitudes to the realities of globalisation and promised better educational an innovation partnerships between the Muslim world and the West.

He finished his speech quoting sections of the Koran, the Talmud and the Bible that call for peace, equality and mutual understanding. [for full article: France24]

“I am the Lord; that is my name!
I will not give my glory to anyone else,
nor share my praise with carved idols.
Everything I prophesied has come true,
and now I will prophesy again.
I will tell you the future before it happens.” Isaiah 42:8-9

“For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; For how should My name be profaned?  And I will not give My glory to another.” Isaiah 48:11

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Galations 6:7

“Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” 34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.” 1 Corinthians 15:33,34

“So they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?”
8 And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them. 9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.” Luke 21:7-9

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.” Exodus 20:4-6

I did listen to the +50 minute speech. I heard him use the term, “The holy Koran says…” quite a few times. As A Christian, one who has been redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb, the Holy one of Israel, the Messiah, God made flesh, there is absolutely no way I could ever fathom using such a term as to quote from another (false) gospel and say that it is holy. The Koran teaches that God had no son.

“God has no son and there is no other god accompanying Him, for then each god would have gone off with what he created and one of them would have been exalted above the other. Glory be to God above what they describe.” (Sura al-Muminun: 91)

At the very last minute of his 54 minute speech, he quoted the Talmud, and the Bible, and of course once again the Koran. In Luke 4, Satan attempts to tempt Jesus Christ. Satan quotes scripture! So don’t be fooled. In Luke 4, and also in Mark 1 you read that the demons acknowledge who Jesus Christ is! So don’t be fooled. In the book of Acts 19 an evil spirit knew Jesus Christ and Paul! So don’t be fooled. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, you must be on guard for the enemy is seeking whom he can devour! Do not be deceived.

1 John 2:15-24 “Do not love the world nor the things in the world If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.

17 The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

18 Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.

19 They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us.

20But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.

21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth.

22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.

23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.

24 As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.” (NASB)
